Head of Insights Strategy & Design for the newly formed Data Science and AI unit in Novartis Digital. Program and System Owner of Nerve Live, a next-generation advanced analytics platform exploiting machine learning and cutting edge data science. Luca’s passion for computational intelligence goes back to the early nineties, when he got a first glimpse of the future of AI while developing neural networks. At Novartis, Luca holds various positions from Head of Predictive Analytics and Design to Global Head of Strategy and Communications. Before Novartis Luca worked at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California as Research Fellow with Professor Terry Sejnowski, a founding father of the field of machine learning and computational neuroscience. Luca holds a MSc in Theoretical Physics and a PhD combining Big Data, Analytics, and Medicine to study the brain during sleep. In Pharma and Healthcare, Luca’s key areas of expertise lie in Leadership and Strategy, Digital Transformation, AI strategy and AI Products.

He joined PwC from Cognizant where he was the SVP and Global Head of AI and Analytics. Prior to that, he worked in IBM as a P&L leader for multiple software and services brands, and he was the CIO for IBM’s Growth Markets based in Shanghai, China.

Leila Toplic is the Head of Emerging Technologies Initiative at NetHope, a consortium of 65 global NGOs, and a technology ethics advisor to multinational companies, startups, and investors. Leila spent over two decades building and scaling innovative programs and ecosystems across private and public sectors. Most recently, she built an Emerging Technologies Initiative at NetHope, a consortium of 60+ global NGOs working with 50+ partners on issues such as human rights, education, and climate resilience and adaptation for vulnerable communities. The Initiative brings together a global community of humanitarians, technologists, and policymakers to collaborate on using data, AI, and other technologies for social impact. Earlier in her career, Leila launched technology products serving over 1B people globally, led international communications and partnerships, and built a global Learning & Development program at Microsoft. Leila was selected as Top 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics for 2021. She’s serving on the Expert Committee for the first-ever Digital Trust Label, Advisory Boards of several startups, and UNESCO’s Declaration on Connectivity for Education.

Kim Dressendoerfer is an AI and Data Expert and Cognitive Solution Architect for IBM. She is responsible for cross-industry clients and was focusing specifically on process optimization and developing of machine learning algorithms with a focus on unstructured textural data. During her studies in Business Computing she started developing her own cognitive search engines, which brought her to IBM Watson and where she continued building her assets. Kim Dressendoerfer is also developing her own IoT devices and has multiple patents in the sensor area. Today Kim is working as a Account Technical Leader in New York.
